Description
Wesley Barlow spent his childhood Lucin, Utah where his father worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Discussion includes the 1904 building of the Lucin Cutoff across the Great Salt Lake and the ongoing maintenance of the trestle. He told of the rails of the seldom-used tracks of the old line which ran around the north end of the lake before the Lucin Cutoff. These rails were removed during WWII to provide scrap metal for the victory ships, which would carry supplies to the troops. Wes was an Air Force Reserve officer during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. He was sent to Vietnam to train South Vietnamese soldiers.
