Description
Clark Hillam told of his grandfather Abraham Hillam, one of the early settlers of Brigham City and supervisor of the cooperative tannery. He also remembered the Christensen Brothers Academy of Dance, which was called the Bluebird when he was in high school and attended proms in the historic building. He told of being on the prom committee and decorating the building for the occasion. Clark was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Germany in 1938-39 and told of the escalating unrest before and at the beginning of WWII. The missionaries were evacuated from the country for their safety. Discussion includes his witnessing Crystal Nacht and other persecution of Jews and seeing Hitler passing by in military parades.
