Description
Arland DuVall was flight engineer and top turret gunner on a B-26 bomber flying combat missions out of England and France during WWII. He was injured once when his turret exploded and flak and plexiglas fragments were embedded in his face. Another time his plane carrying a full load of bombs crashed on takeoff and his foot was caught, trapping him in the plane. Two of his comrades were able to free him and move him away from the plane bfore it exploded. This saved his life although he was hospitalized for several months becaue of injuries sustained in the incident.
