Description
Discussion of Andersen's work with German and Italian prisoners of war at the Ogden Defense Depot during World War II. Interview includes Andersen's personal and family backgrounds, his maternal grandparents William and Mary Watkins Evans' move to Brigham City from Wales in 1864, his paternal grandfather Martin Andersen's migration to Utah from Denmark in the 1860's, his father's move to Brigham City in 1882 and the purchase of the County Poor Farm. Andersen talks about his childhood in Brigham City, about his LDS Mission to Germany and his subsequent assignment as an employee of the Odgen Defense Depot to work with German POWs. He later had 3 Italian POWs assisting him at a shop at the Depot making scale models of power equipment.
