Description
Oral history of Janet Reeder, who worked at the Intermountain Indian School Janet Reeder worked at Intermountain Indian School for three years beginning in 1964 and loved it there. She had previously worked for private industry, but found she preferred the school atmosphere. She first worked in the Mail Room in the Guidance Department and later as a secretary to Guidance Counselor Billie Holder. All the of employees she knew were sincerely concerned about the education and personal welfare of the Indian students. She had to leave the school when she was notified to pick up the first of her three adopted children and was a stay-at-home mom for 12 years. She then finished college, obtaining a teaching degree, and taught elementary school in Battle Mountain, Nevada. She credits her love of teaching to her years at Intermountain School.
