Description
"Winter Scene in New York" by Waldo Midgley is an oil on linen canvas painting done in 1936. The signature and date is in the lower right. The painting depicts a parking lot for a commuter rail in the winter. The perspective of the painting is looking down upon the lot. The 1936 cars are lined up in the lot and mother and child are walking across the lot near a fence at the bottom edge of the painting. In the background is a hill with homes and evergreen trees. Colors are blue, yellow, purple, green, brown, ochre, pinks. Tints of white depicting snow are are the most common colors. The 1.5 inch gold frame is relatively new and not the original.
