Photo taken by Charles R. Savage atop the Jupiter Engine at the driving of the Golden Spike at Promontory Summit. This marked the completion of the Transcontinental Railway connecting the West with the East. Note the wagons in the background on the left behind the soldiers, and the other railcars in the top right corner of the photo.
