Description

Dennis Abel started his law enforcement career working for Box Elder County Sheriff Warren Hyde and later changed to the Brigham City Police Department. With the Sheriff's Office he worked in rural areas with disputes over water rights, property lines and with crimes such as cattle rustling. He was the first officer on a murder scene when a young man was killed on the job as a gas station attendent in Perry. Dennis recently testified in the trial of the accused killer. With the Brigham City Police, he was on patrol, working traffic violations and accidents and as an investigator of such crimes as domestic violence and drug abuse. In 2005 he spent one year working in Iraq in bomb disposal -- finding bombs and detonating them so that explosives were not sold back to Iraqi police. Dennis now works part-time for the Brigham City Department.
