Description
Susan Behring has worked at the Brigham City Library for 22 years, part-time first as a clerk and later as secretary. For the past 15 years, she has held the full-time position of Reference Librarian. She told of changes she has experienced with the addition of computers and other electronic equipment. For example, the change from the old card catalog (which used actual cards) to the wider offerings on the computerized catalog. Young people welcome the modernization, while older patrons are wary of computer use. Another change is reduced need for reference matrials as information becomes more accessible on the Internet. Discussion includes good relationships among staff members and with patrons as well and the willingness of staff to go out of their way to offer patrons needed services.
