Description
Bicentennial presentation, "Flood!"

Aerial photograph, "roads into basin"

Willard, Utah flooded in 1923, killing two people, due to overgrazing of the mountains and hills above Willard, the bowl-shaped basin at the head of Willard Canyon, the land being privately owned at that time, and the continuous rain. The flood covered about 155 acres of town lots, gardens, and orchards. In 1975 a presentation was created for the bicentennial. After the flood, the watershed lands were taken control of by the people and given to the Forest Service for future protection. Reclamation work was then done by the Citizen's Conservation Corps. (C.C.C.) in the 1930s.
