Description
Dean Hawkes, was a Marine during WWII and served in Iwo Jima where he was surrounded by fierce fighting and dead bodies all over the ground. He was in a foxhole on his 20th birthday when the famous flag was raised on Mount Sarabachi. He later served in the First Fixed Bridge Unit during the Korean conflict.
