Description
Interview covers his World War II military service in Europe as a Staff Sgt. in the 102nd Army Infantry Division. He was among the first troops to land in Normandy. He was in several battles across the Ruhr River from Germany. He received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Combant Infantry Medal. He saw German officers cross the river and surrender to US Military Leaders ending the war. He stayed in Germany for 7 months after the war ended to help rebuild communities.
