Description
Military Campaign Ribbons worn by Quinn Eskelsen. Quinn Eskelsen, brother of Mayor Eskelsen, served in World War 2 and the Korean War. Three different ribbons all connected to one bar. 1) The first campaign ribbon is blue, with white, black, red, and blue stripes. The bar stands for the American Campaign Medal. It is awarded for service within the American Theatre between Devember 7, 1941 and March 2, 1946. 2) The middle ribbon stands for the Asiatic - Pacific Campaign Medal. Awarded for service in the Pacific Theatre between 1941 and 1946 under specific conditions. The yellow ribbon has white and red on each side to represent the Japanese colors. The center blue, white, and red stripes are taken from the American Defense Service Medal ribbon and refer to the continuance of American Defense after Pearl Harbor. This ribbon has three bronze stars representing participation in designated campaigns in that that theatre. It also has one bronze arrowhead, which represents participation in a combat parachute jump, combat gliderlanding, or amphibious assault landing within that theatre. 3) The Philippine Liberation Medal. Awarded for service between October 17, 1944 to September 2, 1945, under three specific criteria. This campaign ribbon has one broze star on the black/dark blue panel in center next to the white/yellow panel. The broze service star represents participation in two of the three possible criteria to receieve the medal.
