Jennie Begaii grew up in Crown Point, New Mexico on the Navajo Reservation. She attended elementary school there and went to a BIA high school at Fort Wingate. After her marriage to Ernie Begaii, he got a job at Intermountain Indian School in 1951, and they moved to Brigham City. Jennie became an attendant in a boys's dormitory and worked there for several years. Later she attended Utah State University and was then able to teach in the academic program at Intermountain. She was qualified to teach eight disciplines of arts and crafts, including traditional Navajo crafts. Her husband died in 1978, but Jennie and her children remained in Brigham City.
